ACADEMIC MAP (Effective Summer 2025 and after)
*Please Note: Face-to-face/in-person instruction of this program is available at BOTH the main campus in Tallahassee, FL and the Panama City, FL campus. This program is NOT available via Online/Distance Learning.*
This map is a term-by-term sample course schedule. The milestones listed to the right of each term are designed to keep you on course to graduate in four years. The Sample Schedule serves as a general guideline to help you build a full schedule each term. The General Education and Elective courses must be selected to satisfy all area and diversity requirements unless your program meets these requirements with major courses. Milestones are courses and special requirements necessary for timely progress to complete a major. Missing milestones will result in one of two types of map registration stops. The first level (Degree Map Off-track) is placed following grade posting if the student has missed a milestone for the first time in the major. If a student is in non-compliance with milestones for two (2) consecutive semesters (excluding summers), a Major Change Required stop is placed on the student's registration.
This nationally and internationally known program was established in 1947 in recognition of the demand for industry executives with the kind of education tomorrow’s hospitality manager will need. The curriculum is designed so students not only learn the specialized knowledge needed for the hospitality industry but also understand the basic functions, objectives, and tools of management that are common to all executive roles.
To be admitted to the Hospitality and Tourism Management major, you must have completed at least 52 hours and have earned a “C minus" or better in the Admission Prerequisite Courses (MAC1105, HFT1000, CGS2100 or CGS2518 (preferred) and either ECO2013 or ECO2023) and have the required overall college GPA of a 2.00 or higher.
Requirements for Progression to the Upper-Division Major
Admission to the Hospitality and Tourism Management degree requires the following:
1) Completion of at least 52 semester hours;
2) Satisfactory completion of all required prerequisite coursework;
3) A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 on all college work attempted;

The Human Development and Family Sciences program introduces students to applied developmental sciences, with an emphasis on the development process within family contexts and in different settings. It provides students with an introduction to working in applied settings, including hospitals, human service agencies, education, and child care settings. The program requires a 12-hour minor or area of concentration in one of a variety of other academic areas which is individually planned and designed to enhance each student’s breadth and/or marketability. With early planning, double majoring or double minoring is a possibility and is encouraged.

This map is a term-by-term sample course schedule. The milestones listed to the right of each term are designed to keep you on course to graduate in four years. To graduate on time, you need to make sure you have achieved or surpassed these milestones by the end of each term. The Sample Schedule serves as a general guideline to help you build a full schedule each term and may use categories of courses such as "GE History" for a General Education History course. The General Education and elective courses must be selected to satisfy all area and diversity requirements, unless your program meets these requirements with major courses.
To complete a major in Interdisciplinary Humanities, a student would need 42 hours of coursework beyond General Education requirements, with 24 hours of coursework in classes numbered above 2999. No minor is required. Students should consult Kathryn Stoddard as their advisor regarding major course requirements. All courses taken to fulfill the 42 hours of major course work must be taken for a letter grade. If you are placed above a milestone, it is important that you continue with the next milestone in its place.

In the emerging connected society, information and information technology are ubiquitous and influence almost all forms of human activity. Modern IT professionals use information and technology to support the goals and cultures of the people and organizations they serve. The Information Technology (IT) major prepares graduates who can apply technology innovatively, manage information purposefully, communicate effectively, and work ethically and productively with people. Successful information technology professionals determine an organization's information needs and then design, create, and manage information systems to meet those needs. In the IT program students participate in hands-on learning experiences designed to develop and hone leadership skills in communication, technology, teamwork, information management, critical thinking, and problem solving.

ACADEMIC MAP (Effective Summer 2024 and after)
*Please Note: Face-to-face/in-person instruction of this program is available ONLY at the main campus in Tallahassee, FL.
The first level (Degree Map Off-track) is placed following grade posting if the student has missed a milestone (course and/or GPA) for the first time in the major. If a student is in non-compliance with milestones for two (2) consecutive semesters (excluding summers), a Major Change Required stop is placed on the student's registration.
Information, Communication, and Technology is an interdisciplinary major for students interested in combining information technology with communications foundations. Students in the major will learn skills in cutting-edge technology, web design and applications, communicating information effectively, delivering information in and through creative and intelligent approaches, and working in teams.

Academic MAP (Effective Summer 2024 and after)
*Please Note: Face-to-face/in-person instruction of this program is available ONLY at the main campus in Tallahassee, FL. This program is NOT available via Online/Distance Learning.*
This map is a term-by-term sample course schedule. The milestones listed to the right of each term are designed to keep you on course to graduate in four years. If a student is in non-compliance with milestones for two (2) consecutive semesters (excluding summers), a Major Change Required stop is placed on the student's registration.
To enter any of the health professions, volunteer, service, and clinical experience are essential. Students in each of the Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences (IMS) majors are required to engage in the real world of health care as part of the IMS Experiential Service Learning Seminar sequence. Students are required to obtain a minimum of 64 hours of experiential learning hours each academic year. These hours are part of the mapping milestones required for the Clinical Professions major.
The Clinical Professions major works best if you can start math with MAC1140 Pre-calculus and take CHM1045 General Chemistry I and Lab as soon as possible. STA2122 Intro to Applied Statistics is recommended for students who need statistics for their health profession or for those students who begin their math with MAC 1114 Analytical Trigonometry and who still need to satisfy their 2nd Quantitative & Logical Thinking liberal studies requirement. Students wishing to apply to a health professional school and need to take the standardized tests (e.g. MCAT or DAT) should plan on taking summer classes and have all the required coursework completed at the end of term 6, otherwise should plan for a "gap" year after graduation. Students should be meeting with the pre-health/pre-med advisors about any professional health school requirements.
All coursework required for the major must be taken for a letter grade and a grade of "C minus" or better is required.
